Opened in 2017 in the former outbuilding of the house where writer Vladimir Gilyarovsky lived for nearly 50 years. The centre has no permanent exhibition; it hosts temporary exhibitions, film screenings and lectures. Dedicated to the social history of Moscow, it pays special attention to personal memories and documentary evidence. The centre explores urban space, everyday life, changing customs and how residents perceive the city. Its exhibitions, educational programmes and academic conferences focus on the mores and daily life of the capital, with particular emphasis on Moscow in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
